Volunteers to build safe play areas at Mayor Wright

Advertiser Staff

Work begins this morning to give young people safe play areas at Mayor Wright Homes.

The project will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and tomorrow and involves University of Hawai'i students in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning working with the Mayor Wright Homes Tenants Association in the Kalihi-Palama neighborhood.

"We are excited to launch this beautification project and to provide a safe place for our children to gather," said Hana Eliapo, president of the tenants association.

Mayor Wright Homes is Hawai'i's largest public-housing complex.
