Kane‘ohe Bay Marines this morning hiked 5.2 miles carrying food donations as part of a base-wide food drive.

Two hundred Marines from Headquarters Battalion, Marine Corps Base Hawai'i in Kane'ohe hiked 5.2 miles carrying a total of 2,500 pounds of canned goods and other food donations for the base's first annual Operation Harvest today.

The base-wide food drive will benefit the Salvation Army in Kane'ohe, the food pantry at St. George Catholic Church in Waimanalo, and the base's Armed Services YMCA.

The two-hour hike began at 6 a.m.
