Hawaii, New Mexico St. advance to WAC volleyball final

Sixth-ranked Hawai`i swept Idaho, 25-21, 26-24, 25-14 in a Western Athletic Conference women's volleyball tournament semifinal match at the Stan Sheriff Center tonight.

The Rainbow Wahine face New Mexico State in Sunday's championship match.

Aneli Cubi-Otineru led UH with 11 kills, four aces and four digs. Jamie Houston added 11 kills and five blocks while Nickie Thomas chimed in five blocks and four kills. Kanani Danielson had seven kills and 10 digs while Amber Kaufman added five kills and three aces.

Lindsey Yon had 15 kills and Amber Simpson added 14 to lead top-seed New Mexico State to a 25-18, 25-22, 25-18 victory over San Jose State in the other semifinal.

San Jose State, the tournament's fifth seed, finished its season 13-17.

Yon also had four aces, while Krystal Torres had 16 digs for the Aggies.

Kelly Crow had 10 kills to lead the Spartans.
