Hamamoto leads after first round of Hawaii State Open

Hilo professional Jarett Hamamoto shot a 6-under-par 66 today to take a two-stroke lead after the first round of the Hawaii State Open at the Hawaii Prince Golf Course.
Pros Norman-Ganin Asao of Olomana Golf Links and Kalani Kiaaina of Hawaii Prince were tied for second at 68.
Bradley Shigezawa, an amateur from Punahou School, and Garrett Okamura, a pro at Dunes at Mauna Lani, were tied at 69.
Kane'ohe native Dean Wilson, who plays on the PGA Tour, shot a 71 and was tied for eighth.
Junior golfers Cyd Okino and Allisen Corpuz lead the women's division after a 72.
The second round is today and the final round on Sunday.
