NFL: Broncos activate Barret from practice squad

Associated Press

DENVER — The Denver Broncos waived running back Alex Haynes and elevated rookie safety Josh Barrett from their practice squad today.

Barrett played at Arizona State and was picked in the seventh round of this year's draft. He ranked fourth with 11 tackles and two special teams stops in four preseason games for Denver.

The Broncos' secondary has been hampered by injuries to starting linebackers Nate Webster, D.J. Williams, Boss Bailey, cornerback Champ Bailey as well as safety Marlon McCree.
