Turkey Day is coming faster than you can gobble gobble, which makes this the weekend to check out the DVD entertainment for the youngsters who might not want to watch football all day.

These suggestions are by Bob Bloom, movie critic and DVD reviewer for the Lafayette, Ind., Journal & Courier.

FOR THE YOUNGEST

  • "Charlie and Lola: The Absolutely Completely Complete Seasons 1 and 2" (BBC Video). An eight-disc set that will keep the kids occupied for hours.

  • "My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas" (Paramount Home Entertainment) comes with a cute little pony figurine.

  • "Sesame Street: Elmo's Christmas Countdown" (Genius Products).

  • "The Flight Before Christmas" (Genius Products) is a CGI animated holiday tale.

  • "SpongeBob SquarePants: WhoBob WhatPants" (Paramount Home Entertainment).

    FOR OLDER CHILDREN

  • "Speed Racer: The Complete Classic Series Collection" (Lionsgate) is a six-disc set with all 52 episodes in a Speed Racer racing car box.

  • "Ben 10: Alien Force — Volume 1" (Warner Home Video) features five episodes from the Cartoon Network series.

  • Alvin and the Chipmunks are featured in two releases from Paramount Home Entertainment: "Alvin's Thanksgiving Celebration" and "Alvin and the Chipmunks: Classic Holiday Gift Set."

YULE FARE FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY

  • Everyone's favorite ogre celebrates in "Shrek the Halls" (DreamWorks Home Entertainment), which features sing-alongs and characters from "Madagascar."

  • Celebrate with the Peanuts gang in the "Peanuts Deluxe Holiday Collection" (Warner Home Video), a three-disc set featuring "A Charlie Brown Christmas," "A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving" and "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown."

  • The family can watch the way the holidays used to be celebrated in "Holiday Treats" (Paramount Home Entertainment), which features episodes from such classic TV series as "I Love Lucy," "The Andy Griffith Show," "Family Ties," "The Honeymooners," "The Brady Bunch" and "Taxi."
