BYUH women win opener

Richelle Fenenbock had 20 points to lead Brigham Young-Hawai'i over Whitworth (Wash.), 83-64, last night in women's basketball at Cannon Activities Center.

Mahina Gago added 16 points, Lei Lolohea 11 and Madison Kite 10 for BYUH (1-0). Cassie Pilkinton had 18 for Whitworth (1-1).


SOFTBALL

UH BEATS ALUMNAE, 3-0

Courtney Baughman, Melissa Gonzalez and Stephanie Ricketts fired two shutout innings each as the University of Hawai'i softball team beat its alumnae, 3-0, last night at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium.

Malamaisaua Manuma had a run-scoring single in the first, and Katie Grimes and Clare Warwick added RBI singles in the second inning.


GOLF

HAMAMOTO LEADS STATE

Jarett Hamamoto fired a 6-under 66 for a two-stroke lead yesterday after the opening round of Hawai'i State Open at the Hawai'i Prince Golf Club.

Cyd Okino and Allisen Corpuz each shot 72 to lead the women's division.

MEYER TIED FOR 56TH

Hawai'i's Gregory Meyer shot a 5-over 76 yesterday and was tied at 56th after the second round of the $2.12 million Dunlop Phoenix at Miyazaki, Japan.

Meyer has a 148 total. Japan's Tomohiro Kondo shot a 69—137 to lead by a stroke at the Phoenix Country Club.
