LAS VEGAS — Developers considering bids to redevelop the site of Cashman Field in Las Vegas have been told by the city that all proposals must include plans to build a new baseball stadium on the site or elsewhere.

The proposals could have implications for the future of professional baseball in Las Vegas, which could be in danger if a new stadium is not built.

Scott Adams, director of the city redevelopment agency, says Las Vegas wants the Triple-A 51s to have a new home, and feel if the 51s ever left town they would not come back.

Stadiums and facilities are a big deal for minor-league baseball teams because they affect affiliations with major-league clubs. The Los Angeles Dodgers ended an eight-year affiliation agreement with the 51s this year.
