POLICE BEAT
Deaths in Ko Olina may be Oahu's 5th murder-suicide

Advertiser Staff

If Honolulu medical examiner autopsy findings confirm police suspicions, the deaths of a Ko Olina couple may be ruled O'ahu's fifth murder-suicide case this year.

The bodies of a 40-year-old man and his wife, 36, were discovered at about 5 p.m. Friday at their townhouse on 'Olani Street. The woman's decomposed body was inside the house, while the man was found hanging in the home's enclosed garage.

The medical examiner's office declined to release the names of the Ko Olina couple.

In addition to the Ko Olina case, four women and a 7-year-old boy have been killed in murder-suicides this year. Combined with four other deaths tied to domestic violence, the total accounts for nearly half of O'ahu's 19 homicides.

Police said they went to the home after the man's co-workers went to his residence to check on him because he had not reported to work for several days.
