QB Bulger's status up in air after sack

Associated Press

St. Louis Rams quarterback Marc Bulger sustained a concussion on a sack in the team's first series against Chicago yesterday, and his status for next week's game was uncertain.

Bulger was unavailable after the game, but coach Jim Haslett thought the quarterback's condition had improved before the end of the game, saying, "I thought he looked fine in the second half."

Bulger lasted only five plays in a 27-3 loss to the Bears.

Also, New York Giants wide receiver Plaxico Burress left the game against Arizona in the first quarter after aggravating a right hamstring injury.

Burress' participation had been a game-time decision after he was limited in practice Friday. The Giants already were without starting running back Brandon Jacobs with a knee injury.

Detroit Lions quarterback Drew Stanton was sidelined against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a concussion. The Lions benched Daunte Culpepper in the third quarter, but had to put him back in the game early in the fourth after Stanton was injured on his second series. Stanton was 2 of 6 for 13 yards.

The Bears had several injuries in their win over the Rams, losing safety Mike Brown (leg) in the first half, and tight end Desmond Clark (knee) and cornerback Nathan Vasher (thumb) in the third quarter. Coach Lovie Smith said he didn't know the extent of any of the injuries.

In other injury news, Texans running back Ahman Green injured his left knee in the third quarter and could miss a few weeks; Dolphins receiver Greg Camarillo left in the second half with a knee injury and did not return in the loss to the Patriots; San Francisco kick returner Allen Rossum left the game at Dallas with a sprained right ankle injury sustained while waiting to return a punt.
