Edward Doi, a Kaua'i Department of Water civil engineer, was recently honored in Atlanta by the American Water Works Association for his "extraordinary achievement in membership recruiting."

Doi was presented with the AWWA's Presidential Gold Award.

Over the past nine years, Doi has been active in recruiting and retaining AWWA members that live and/or work in Hawai'i, Guam, American Samoa and other Pacific Basin commonwealths, trusts and territories.

"The American Water Works Association is a great organization," said Doi. "Our mission is to be good stewards of our water supply, to ensure safe, high quality drinking water and planning for re-use of our water resources. I enjoy working with others who share this common goal."
