KALIHI
Sewer line work will cause lane closures

City contracts have been awarded for the final four phases of a $50.3 million project to rehabilitate sewer lines from Kalihi to Nu'uanu.

The project has nine phases, five of which kicked off earlier this year.

Three more phases will start this month. The last phase will start in January.

The work will involve lane closures on Kalihi Street, Gulick Avenue, Pu'uhale Road, North King Street, School Street, Middle Street and several other thoroughfares. The work is expected to wrap up in late 2009, and includes replacing sewer pipes that are between 70 and 90 years old.
