Work starts on assisted-living units

Advertiser Staff

The $24 million Plaza at Mililani assisted living facility in Mililani Mauka broke ground this month on Ukuwai Street.

The 68,000-square-foot, five-story facility will house 128 rental units with a mix of semi-private and private suites. It is modeled after a sister facility, The Plaza at Punchbowl.

All units will come with a 24-hour nurse call monitoring system, private bathroom with walk-in shower, and a kitchenette that will include a refrigerator and microwave.

The facility is expected to open in fall 2009.

By providing assisted living services, the facility will meet the needs of seniors not ready for a nursing home but who can no longer live at home independently.

On an as-needed basis, supportive personal care services such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and medication management services will be available and delivered by a trained and professional staff.

In addition, The Plaza at Mililani will be able to care for those with Alzheimer's disease, dementia and other related memory disorders.
