Great Aloha Run clinics set to start in December

 •  Full moon yoga ‘special, spiritual’

Dr. Christiane W. Christ will direct a series of eight clinics to prepare runners for the Great Aloha Run, which is Feb. 16, 2009.

The clinics will begin Dec. 21 and be every Sunday until the race. The workshops start at 7:20 a.m. and will be held rain or shine.

Some of the topics that will be covered include how to train injury-free; how to fuel for great workouts; how to recover from training; and logistics for the race itself.

XTERRA HOLDING TRAIL RUNNING EVENT DEC. 7

The XTerra Trail Running World Championship is set for Dec. 7 at Kualoa Ranch on O'ahu's Windward side.

There are three distances: a half marathon (13.1 miles, 21 kilometers); a 10K and a 5K race. The events are open to all.

TRIATHLON CAMP SET FOR KONA ON BIG ISLAND

The Triathlon Experience, an eight-night, nine-day program that will incorporate expert coaching, personalized nutrition programs and logistical support at Kona Village, will be Jan. 24 to Feb. 1, 2009.

The camp will feature several experts, and is limited to the first 20 registrants. Costs begin at $11,250.
