Weather: Sunny this morning, showers later

A shear line near Kauai will bring clouds, showers and increasing northeasterly winds mainly to Kauai this morning, the National Weather Service Honolulu Forecast Office said.

Oahu will see the wet and breezy weather associated with the shear line later today, forecasters said.

The shear line will dissipate late tonight, bringing a brief period of trades to the state Sunday. However, the next front approaching from the northwest will result in light and variable winds across the most of the state again starting Monday.

Here's how our weekend weather is shaping up:

Today: Scattered showers after noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 78. Breezy, with a east wind between 15 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 26 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Tonight: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 66. Breezy, with a east wind between 16 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Isolated showers before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. East wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Sunday Night: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. East wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Partly cloudy, with a high near 82. South wind around 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Monday Night: Isolated showers. Widespread haze. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Southeast wind around 6 mph becoming north. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
