KAHULUI
Youth video camp will focus on election issues

Akaku: Maui Community Television is offering a video camp for youth Oct. 6 to 10 at its Media Lab in Kahului.

Organizers said the camp is designed "to include the voice of Maui's youth in discussions leading up to the general election."

Participants will create public service announcements on their favorite cause or concern, with an emphasis on encouraging county residents to vote. Students also will write video treatments, create storyboards and learn to shoot and edit their announcement, which will air on Akaku channels 52, 53 and 54.

Video PSA Camp: Encouraging Maui to Vote will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Media Lab, 333 Dairy Road. Only eight students will be selected for the camp; applications are due tomorrow. The weeklong camp costs $150; scholarships are available.
