Associated Press

DAYTON, Ohio — Ben Shappie matched a school-record by scoring a career-best five touchdowns to lead Dayton to a 42-0 victory over Campbell today.

Shappie rushed for 124 yards on 17 carries, topping 100 yards for the first time in his career. He scored on runs of 3, 1, 2, 21 and 3 yards. Rob Florian tossed an 18-yard scoring pass to Justin Millio for the other Dayton TD. Nick Glavin added the point-after kicks each time for the Flyers (4-1, 1-0 Pioneer League).

Campbell (1-5, 0-3) managed just four first downs and totaled 85 yards on its 46 plays.

Florian completed 16-of-29 passes for 244 yards with three interceptions.

Dayton led 21-0 at the half and then added three more Shappie scoring runs in the third quarter to close the scoring.

Five previous Flyers had scored five touchdowns in a game.
