Iolani upsets No. 1 Saint Louis, 35-30

Advertiser Staff

'Iolani upset No. 1-ranked Saint Louis, 35-30, in Interscholastic League of Honolulu football tonight at Aloha Stadium.

'Iolani led 35-24 midway through the fourth period, but Saint Louis got within five and drove to the 'Iolani 4 with under 30 seconds to play.

On fourth-and-goal, Saint Louis quarterback Jeremy Higgins was sacked at the 11, and the Raiders were then able to run out the clock.

"Can't be any prouder than that," said 'Iolani coach Wendell Look. "We prepared hard for it.

"We only get the opportunity to play the No. 1 team in the state once and we wanted to make the most of the opportunity."

The last time an ILH D-II team beat a DI foe was in 2004 when 'Iolani beat Saint Louis, 36-31.
