Woman on scooter critical after being struck by tour bus

Advertiser Staff

A 62-year-old woman was taken to The Queen's Medical Center in critical condition after being struck by a tour bus at 8 p.m. last night while crossing the street on her electric scooter, Emergency Services Department spokesman Bryan Cheplic said.

The accident occurred on Kapi'olani Boulevard at the intersection of Mahukona Street near Ala Moana, police said.

The bus was operated by Superstar Hawaii Transit Service.

Speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors, police said.

Police said the woman, a Honolulu-area resident, was in the crosswalk riding her red Victory scooter when she was struck by the bus, which was making a right turn onto Kapi'olani Boulevard.

The driver of the bus was not injured.
