A scuba diver who was preparing to go into the water at Point Panic in the Kewalo Basin area this morning collapsed, fell into the water and was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Emergency Services Department spokesman Bryan Cheplic said the call came in at 10:50 a.m. He said the man had his diving gear on and was preparing to enter the water when he had a seizure or "some other apparent medical condition."

Cheplic said the man was in his 50s.
