Fire rescue specialists today brought two hikers out from Maunawili Valley in Windward O'ahu.

A man and woman, ages 18 and 19, were airlifted out by the Honolulu Fire Department helicopter at 5:50 p.m., about an hour after requesting assistance. Neither were injured but one of them felt too weak to complete the hike, possibly due to dehydration, said HFD spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.

The couple had started their hike into the valley from the hairpin turn area on Pali Highway, Seelig said.
