Grants

  • The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation trustees have presented a $1 million check to Goodwill Industries of Hawai'i. The funds are part of a $2 million grant from the foundation toward Goodwill's recently completed $11 million capital campaign to raise building funds for the agency's 'Ohana Career and Learning Center in the Kapolei Business Park.

The Goodwill career and learning center is scheduled to open in 2009 and will be designed to serve 1,600 people each year.

  • Michael W. Perry, chairman of the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Pacific, has announced the foundation's receipt of a $25,000 grant from the Longs Benefit Golf Classic. The grant will be used to purchase a van modified with adaptive equipment to help patients as they transition back into the community. The van will be used to take patients to supermarkets, banks and on other errands to learn to maximize their independence. The van also will be used to transport patients to and from REHAB.
