Fire quickly doused on Big Island

Firefighters saved a family on the Big Island an estimated $35,000 in quickly extinguishing a small brush fire that started a storage structure burning yesterday.

The incident occurred at at 3:25 p.m. at the corner of Seabreeze Parkway and Reef Parkway. Firefighters were on the scene within 10 minutes and had the fire under control within 15 minutes.

The storage unit and surrounding area had a large amount of household goods, most of which were saved, firefighters said. The losses totaled about $500.

Cause of the fire is under investigation.
