WAILUKU
Maui Democrats hosting debate viewing party

The Maui County Democratic Party is hosting a presidential debate viewing party at 3 p.m. today at its headquarters at 2020 Main St. in Wailuku.

U.S. Rep. Mazie Hirono will be among those attending.

For those who can't catch the debate live, it will be replayed at 7:30 p.m. at an event sponsored by the Hawaii Institute for Human Rights and the Maui Community College Political Science Honor Society. The location is Hale 218 on the MCC campus.

Both events are open to the public.

The MCC gathering is part of a series of Presidential Debate Viewings & Community Dialogue Circles. The debate will be followed by a discussion and straw poll of participants.

The series continues Oct. 13 with a 2 p.m. showing of "The Presidents," a six-hour special profiling U.S. presidents and the main issues they faced during their terms. That will take place in MCC Ka'a'ike Room 103.

On Oct. 15, the final debate will be shown at 6 p.m., with the location to be announced. For more information, e-mail joshua@hawaii.edu.
