'EWA BEACH
Kupuna to share stories at 'This Place' workshop

The Hoakalei Cultural Foundation will host a free "Stories of This Place" workshop featuring a kupuna from the 'Ewa-Pu'uloa area from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the Keone'ula Elementary School cafeteria.

The workshop will be led by Arline Eaton, president of the foundation. Eaton is a Hawaiian studies teacher at Iroquois Point Elementary School, where she has worked since 1986, and also a member of the Royal Order of Kamehameha and the 'Ewa-Pu'uloa Hawaiian Civic Club.

The Hoakalei foundation was established by elders in the community with assistance from developer Haseko in 2006 to ensure proper stewardship of the land and heritage of the 'Ewa plain.
