FOOTBALL

FORD ISLAND OPEN

Aloha Stadium is re-opening Ford Island for Saturday's University of Hawai'i football game against Louisiana Tech, stadium manager Scott Chan announced.

Game time is 6:05 p.m.

"We are hoping for a large crowd to help celebrate Homecoming weekend," UH athletic director Jim Donovan said. "With the team coming off the upset win at Fresno State last week and all the festivities for Saturday's game, we decided it would be best to open Ford Island to help alleviate parking and traffic issues that sometimes arise with larger crowds."

All other alternate parking sites, including Leeward Community College, Kam Drive-In, and Radford High School, will also be open.

All parking gates are scheduled to open at 2:30 p.m. except the lower Halawa lot, which will open at 1:30 p.m. for the public. The lower Halawa lot accommodates approximately 1,500 vehicles.
