The Waiehu Golf Course's new maintenance building has been selected to receive a National Association of Park and Recreation Officials "operational support facility" award, it was announced by Maui County officials at the building's grand opening yesterday.

Waiehu is the oldest municipal golf course in the state and the second-oldest golf course on Maui.

The $3.1 million project cost included design, demolition of three structures, construction and associated improvements on about two acres.
