Weather: Scattered showers today, sunny tomorrow

Trade winds and windward showers will persist through Sunday, but a front approaching from the northwest will bring periods of rain to Kauai and Oahu from Monday night through midweek, the National Weather Service said.

Southeasterly winds will generate upslope showers over the rest of the state, forecasters said.

Trades will return everywhere by the end of the new week.

Here's a day-by-day look at your weekend weather:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly before noon. Partly cloudy, with a high near 81. East wind between 13 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind between 10 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 10%.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 82. East wind between 11 and 14 mph.

Sunday Night: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 70. East wind between 8 and 13 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Columbus Day: Sunny, with a high near 80. East wind around 6 mph.

Monday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind around 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
