Sunset on the Beach, those festivals of food, entertainment and movies on the big screen, is back at Queen's Surf in Waikiki this weekend as part of the Louis Vuitton Hawaii International Film Festival. This is your chance to sample shorts and feature films that also will be screened at the Dole Cannery theater complex — but it's free, free, free!

Tonight's lineup is the acclaimed short "Chief" (pictured above); and "The Wrecking Crew," about session musicians who played for dozens of pop stars. Tomorrow's schedule: the shorts "The First Hawaiian Snowball Fight" and "The Legend of Chang Apana"; and "Sparrow," a thriller from Hong Kong (subtitled).

Admission is, as we said, free, free, free! Sunset on the Beach events begin at 4 p.m.

The film festival continues through Oct. 19. Details at www.hiff.org.
