A 31-year-old man was charged today with first-degree robbery and first-degree threatening stemming from an alleged confrontation yesterday with two security guards of a Ala Moana area retail store who suspected him of shoplighting.

Norman J. Enos Jr., who listed no permanent local address at booking, allegedly used physical force against one of the guards, a 47-year-old man, and threatened another while trying to flee. Enos stands 5 feet 10 and weighs 230 pounds, according to Hawai'i Criminal Justice Data Center records. He was arrested at Mahukona and Atkinson Drive at 2:55 p.m.

Enos, who has five prior criminal convictions, is being held in lieu of $30,000 bail pending his District Court appearance tomorrow.
