City distributing rail transit brochure

Advertiser Staff

The city Department of Transportation Services is distributing a new information brochure containing facts about Honolulu's proposed rail transit system.

"The eight-page brochure is part of our ongoing effort to engage the public and inform residents about the project," DTS Director Wayne Yoshioka said in a news release.

"It answers the community's most frequently asked questions with accurate information," he said.

The brochures were distributed at the city's booth at the Food and New Products Show at the Neal S. Blaisdell Exhibition Hall this past weekend and can be viewed online at the rail project's Web site, www.honolulutransit.org. In addition, the brochure will be distributed at the upcoming rail transit community meetings today through Oct. 23, in state libraries and Satellite City Halls, and as an insert in the Honolulu Advertiser and Honolulu Star-Bulletin newspapers on Sunday, Oct. 19. It will also be included in the Oct. 22 edition of MidWeek.

Residents, businesses and local organizations can request a brochure by calling the rail project hot line at 566-2299.
