The funeral for DeWayne McKinney, a businessman who was killed in a moped accident in Kaimuki last week, will be tomorrow at 5 p.m. on Lanikai Beach, his ex-wife said yesterday.

McKinney, 47, is survived by his former wife, Jeanine; son Anthony; stepdaughter Jessica; and stepson Kalif; along with his sister, Brenda, and brother Donnel.

Jeanine McKinney said Anthony McKinney will be taking over his father's business on O'ahu, and that Brenda McKinney will continue to run the ATM business on Kaua'i.

The family plans to sell its Big Island business, which has 14 automated teller machines.

McKinney, released after spending nearly two decades in a California prison for a murder he didn't commit, parlayed a $1.7 million settlement with the Orange County, Calif., police department into a multimillion-dollar automated teller machine business in Hawai'i.

He died Oct. 7 from multiple internal injuries suffered in the moped crash. McKinney's blood-alcohol level was 0.22 percent, nearly three times the legal limit.
