Weather: Vog expected to lift by this afternoon

A low pressure area west of the state will continue to push push westward, the National Weather Service said.

That will result in a trend toward the more typical trade wind weather pattern over the next few days as high pressure builds north of the state, forecasters said.

As easterly trades return the volcanic haze will clear by this afternoon from skies over the islands west of the Big Island.

Here's a more detailed look at what to expect during the next few days:

Today: Scattered showers, mainly after noon. Widespread haze before noon. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. East wind between 11 and 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Tonight: Scattered showers, mainly before midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 86. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Thursday Night: Scattered showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
