Weather: Trades are due back in town today

The trade winds will be returning to all of the main Hawaiian islands by this evening, and strengthen to moderate to locally strong over the weekend, the National Weather Service said.

Showers brought in by the trades will favor windward and mountain areas of all the islands, forecasters said.

Rainfall amounts will be on the low end.

Here's a closer look at what to expect leading into the weekend:

Today: Sunny, with a high near 86. East wind around 14 mph.

Tonight: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday: Isolated showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 85. East wind between 11 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Scattered showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 72. East wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.
