NCAA clears UH QB Rausch, but too late for tomorrow's game

Advertiser Staff

BOISE, Idaho — The NCAA reinstated Hawai'i quarterback Brent Rausch, deciding that he should not be penalized for a clerical error.

The decision came too late to help Rausch, who was left behind for tomorrow's nationally televised road football game against 15th-ranked Boise State.

Jake Santos replaced Rausch on the 65-player roster.

The problem, the UH coaches were told, stemmed from an eligibility form Rausch filled out Aug. 2 during the orientation session for first-year Warriors.

Rausch inadvertently put in the wrong code in one of the form's boxes.

The mistake was not detected until last week.

He will be eligible for UH's game against Nevada on Oct. 25 at Aloha Stadium.
