Hawaii companies' export efforts hailed

Advertiser Staff

Six Hawai'i companies, ranging from an organic honey producer and Moloka'i gourmet salt company to makers of skin-care products, have been recognized by the U.S. Department of Commerce for their success with exports to other countries.

The companies recently were given the Commerce Department's Export Achievement Certificate that is awarded to small- and medium-size companies that have done well entering the international marketplace. Some of the orders were received after a Hawai'i delegation attended the HOFEX Food Trade Show in Hong Kong as well as a trade mission to Macau.

The companies are:

  • Big Island Bees, which is exporting its organic honey to Hong Kong and mainland China.

  • Hawaii Kai Inc., a Moloka'i-based company that is exporting products to Taiwan.

  • Malie Inc., a Kaua'i-based producer of luxury body and skin care products made from Hawaiian ingredients for the spa market. It has sold products to customers in Australia.

  • Oils of Aloha, a maker of cosmetics and skin-care products as well as bulk macadamia and kukui nut oils.

  • TALL English Solutions, a language training institution doing business in South Korea and Japan.

  • Tradewinds Global, an export management company that helps Hawai'i companies connect with international buyers.
