Maintenance building at golf course gets blessing

County officials and construction team members held a blessing ceremony yesterday for the Waiehu Golf Course's new $3.1 million maintenance building.

The project involved demolition of three structures and construction and related improvements on two acres at the golf course.

The new 8,000-square-foot maintenance building won an Operational Support Facility award from the National Association of Park and Recreation Officials.

Waiehu Golf Course is the oldest municipal golf course in the state and the second-oldest golf course on Maui.

Among those present at the ceremony were parks and recreation director Tamara Horcajo, architect Alvin Yoshimori, contractor Tady Arisumi and golf course maintenance supervisor Doug Myers.
