A Waikiki store manager was arrested for investigation of first-degree theft for allegedly f taking more than $52,000 from store sales, police said.

The 33-year-old man worked as a store manager from April 27 to July 30. As part of his job he was required to deposit cash and travelers checks into the bank for the store. But an audit showed that deposits were not made from July 15 -29, police said.

The next day, an employee saw the store manager take a bank deposit bag containing money from sales on July 27-29 and leaving the store. As of September, the money still hadn't been deposited in the store bank account, police said. The business called police on Aug. 6 to report the theft and the manager was arrested for investigation of theft in the first degree, police said.

The case is pending further investigation.
