Hawaii Plantation Village transforms into the Haunted Plantation for four nights of Halloween horror, left. The outdoor event is so spooky and intense that children under age 10 are not permitted — and it's not recommended for women who are pregnant or anyone with heart conditions. Everyone else: Prepare to scream. The Haunted Plantation is presented by GroundUp Productions.

Just in time for the Halloween season, The Actors' Group stages "Ultio Venia," below, a dark-night production. Really really dark night. Translated from Latin, "ultio" means "revenge," "venia" is "grace." The play is about demons and angels battling over the souls of a couple; the adult themes may not be appropriate for all audiences.

Veteran punk band Guttermouth rocks this way for three shows. The boys perform twice at Anna Bannana's (once for the 21-and-older crowd, once for all ages) as well as another show at Shooters in Hilo. The band's current lineup consists of Mark Adkins, Dave Luckett, Clint Weinrich, Kevin Clark, Ryan Farrell and the single-named Hunter. Longtime guitarist Scott Sheldon left the band in June.

New Zealand band Te Vaka returns with its fusion of reggae, roots, and traditional and contemporary Polynesian sounds for a tour of the Islands. The 10-member group is no stranger to Isle music fans; it last performed at the Waikiki Shell in 2005.

R. Zamora Linmark's best selling novel "Rolling The R's" takes center stage at the Kumu Kahua Theatre, right. The play takes place in Kalihi in the 1970s and is about classmates struggling with their identities as defined by ethnicity, nationality and sexual orientation. It's directed by Harry Wong III.

Treat Street returns to haunt the Bishop Museum, but in that family-friendly way. Youngsters are invited to dress up and trick-or-treat for candy and prizes along a make-believe neighborhood street created by architecture students from University of Hawai'i-Manoa. There are costume contests, games and other activities, too.

After an eight-month break, The Hell Caminos, left, are back in town. The psychobilly punk rock band headlines Anna Bannana's "Punks vs. Psychos" show, which also features local bands The 86 List, White Rose, Guttercats and guests The Pacific Roller Derby and Cherry Blossom Cabaret. It's an all-ages show.

Looking for the newest gadgets from the world of Sony?
