CFB: Michigan State QB Hoyer hurt against Ohio State

Associated Press

EAST LANSING, Mich. — Michigan State quarterback Brian Hoyer didn't start the second half against Ohio State because of an injured right hand.

Hoyer hurt his throwing hand Saturday before tossing an interception toward the end of the first half as the 12th-ranked Buckeyes led the 20th-ranked Spartans by four touchdowns.

Hoyer was 5-of-12 for 27 yards.

Freshman Kirk Cousins led Michigan State on an 85-yard drive to open the second half and was 4-for-4 for 61 yards, including a short TD pass that cut Ohio State's lead to 28-7.

Entering the game, Cousins was 3-for-4 for 32 yards over three games.
