A community sing-along of Handel's "Messiah" will be held 4 p.m. Nov. 23 at Christ Church Uniting Disciples and Presbyterians, 1300 Kailua Road.

The sing-along will be directed by Wayne R. "Doc" Wilson; rehearsals will be from 7:30 to 8:15 p.m. Thursdays.

NATIVE AMERICAN BISHOP PAYS VISIT

Bishop Carol Gallagher, a member of the Cherokee nation and the only Native American woman to be consecrated a bishop in the Episcopal Church, will be a guest preacher at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church this month.

Author of "Reweaving the Sacred: Congregational Development for Unique Congregations," she will preach at the 8:15 a.m. service Oct. 26 at the church, 720 N. King St.

LUTHERAN CHURCH CONCERTS KICK OFF

"Music for the Roman Oratory," the opening concert of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu's Abendmusiken concert series, will be at 4 p.m. Oct. 26 at the church, 1730 Punahou St.

The Bach Chamber Choir Soloists and Bach Chamber Orchestra will present the concert, narrated by Ian Capps, host of KHPR's "The Early Muse." It will feature rarely performed 16th-century sacred madrigals by Palestrina and Marenzio, church sonatas by Corelli and Legrenzi, organ music by Frescobaldi and "Last Judgment" by Carissimi for 11 independent voices and instruments.

Tickets: $20 ($15 seniors, $12 students) at the door.

HONGWANJI FOLLIES PERFORMS SUNDAY

The Hongwanji Follies presents a program of classical Japanese dance with Sonoe Motoyoshi and storytelling with Fujiko Motobu.

The program takes place at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in the Honpa Hongwanji Hawaii Betsuin social hall, 1727 Pali Highway.
