BYU-Hawaii duo wins doubles crown

Brigham Young-Hawai'i's Elwen Li and Jenny Chin won the NCAA II women's doubles title at the ITA National Small College Tennis Championships yesterday at Mobile, Ala.
Li and Chin, the top seeds, beat Clayton College and State's Viktorya Semyrodenko and Katherine White, 7-5, 4-6, 6-2, in the championship match.
Li and Chin will play other small college divisional winners today for the overall small college championship.
In singles, Li was upset in yesterday's semifinals by Armstrong Atlantic State's Sona Novakova, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
Ma lost in the singles semifinals yesterday to Alex Grubin of Concordia (N.Y.), 7-6 (5), 6-3.
MIXED MARTIAL ARTS
CARD ON SPIKE TONIGHT
Chris Leben of Honolulu will take on England's Michael Bisping in the main event of the UFC 89 mixed martial arts card tonight at Birmingham, England.
Leben is originally from Oregon, but has been the head trainer at the Icon Sport gym in Niu Valley since last year.
Leben is 18-4 with 10 victories via knockout. Bisping is 16-1 with 11 wins by knockout.
Tonight's card will be televised on a delayed basis on the Spike cable station starting at 6 p.m. (Hawai'i time).

BYUH 8-0 IN PACWEST
Agnes Tuilevuka had 17 kills, Losaline Faka'osi added 14 and Faylynn Merrick had 12 as Brigham Young-Hawai'i swept Chaminade in a Pacific West Conference match last night at Cannon Activities Center.
The scores were 25-21, 25-19, 25-23.
BYUH (11-5, 8-0) got 48 assists from LeeAnn Mapu.
Samantha Miller had 14 kills and Trina Kauliakamoa added 12 for Chaminade (9-11, 4-6).
Katie Luna and Mariesa Nielson both had nine kills as Dixie State beat Hawai'i Pacific, 20-25, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, last night at St. Andrew's Priory gym.
Kelly Balanay had 17 kills for HPU (7-11, 4-4). Dixie State improved to 8-10, 4-4.

HILO MEN BEAT DIXIE ST.
Carlos Lopez scored off his own rebound in the ninth minute as Hawai'i-Hilo beat Dixie State, 1-0, yesterday in a Pacific West Conference game at St. George, Utah.
Hilo improved to 8-3-1, 3-2-1. Dixie State fell to 1-8-1, 1-5-1.
Dusan Radisavljevic, Nick Sykes and Patrick Perkins scored as Grand Canyon beat Hawai'i Pacific, 3-0, at Phoenix. HPU is 6-4-1, 4-1; Grand Canyon is 5-3-1, 4-0-1.
Kaylen Jackson scored both goals as Grand Canyon beat Hawai'i Pacific, 2-0, at Phoenix. Grand Canyon is 4-8-1, 3-2; HPU is 3-9, 1-4.
Camille Peterson scored two goals and Mikala Wilkes added one as Dixie State beat Hawai'i-Hilo, 3-2, at St. George, Utah. Megan Pachecano (9:36) and Gina Tumasone (69:59) scored for Hilo (9-4, 4-1). Dixie State improved to 9-4-1, 5-1.
BASEBALL
CANEFIRES RALLY TO WIN
Greg Burns and Chris Hatcher both drove in two runs as the West Oahu CaneFires beat the North Shore Honu, 6-5, last night in Hawaii Winter Baseball at Hans L'Orange Park.
West Oahu (8-8) scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take the lead.
Yamaico Navarro had three hits for North Shore (6-10).
In the late game, Tony Thomas Jr. and Roger Kieschnick drove in two runs apiece as the Waikiki BeachBoys beat the Honolulu Sharks, 8-1.
Jeremy Bleich allowed three hits over 6 2/3 innings for Waikiki (7-9), which scored six runs in the seventh.
Honolulu fell to 11-5.
