Advertiser Staff

Jim Rapoport had two hits, including a solo homer, as the league-leading Honolulu Sharks beat the Waikiki BeachBoys, 7-2, last night in Hawaii Winter Baseball at Les Murakami Stadium.

Rapoport tied the score with his towering shot over the right-field wall leading off the top of the third, then put the Sharks (12-5) ahead to stay with a two-out RBI single in the fourth.

Ruben Tejada contributed two hits, including an RBI double, and scored two runs for Honolulu.

Sharks starter Connor Graham earned the win, working 3 1/3 innings and allowing five hits and one run while striking out four and walking one.

Tony Thomas Jr. had two hits, including one of five doubles for the BeachBoys (7-10).

CANEFIRES 7, HONU 6

Mark Hallberg had three hits, including a two-run single that sparked a seventh-inning rally, as the West Oahu CaneFires beat the North Shore Honu at Hans L'Orange Park.

Hallberg finished with three RBIs, and Chris Hatcher and Cyle Hankerd each added two hits and two RBIs for the CaneFires (9-8).

After Hallberg tied the score 6-6 with his two-run single, Hatcher — who also hit a solo homer — put West Oahu ahead to stay with an infield single that scored Hankerd.

Yamaico Navarro had two hits and two RBIs for the Honu (6-11).
