Cadbury Plc, the world's second-largest confectioner, was today named as a sponsor for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Cadbury will supply all confectionery and packaged ice cream at venues and within the Olympic Park, and can use the London 2012 logo on its products, event organizers said in a statement.

"There has been a surge of interest in London 2012 and I'm thrilled that Cadbury — another great and trusted British brand — has come on board," Paul Deighton, chief executive of London 2012, said in the statement.

London-based Cadbury is the event's second "Tier Two" sponsor after Deloitte & Touche LLP was named as Professional Services Supporter last year. Financial terms were not disclosed in today's announcement.

The organizers are "doing very well" in securing funds for London 2012, Chairman Sebastian Coe said last month. He said they have already secured the bulk of funds from Tier-One sponsors, which include British Airways Plc and Lloyds TSB Group Plc.

Cadbury was also a sponsor for the Sydney Games in 2000, and the last two editions of the Commonwealth Games, contested every four years by Britain and its former colonies and dependencies.
