PUKALANI
Evening event includes film, dinner and music

Kamehameha Schools Maui is hosting an evening of Hawaiian film, culture and entertainment Nov. 1 featuring the hour-long documentary "Through Namaka's Eyes."

The film chronicles the life of Pat Namaka Bacon, daughter of renowned Hawaiian scholar, educator, author and composer Mary Kawena Pukui. Inspired by her mother, Bacon grew to become an accomplished Hawaiian cultural resource in her own right, dedicating most of her life to preserving oli, hula and the traditional Hawaiian ways.

The public event includes a free dinner and a performance by Kamehameha Schools Maui High School Hawaiian Ensemble.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., with dinner at 6:15 and the film at 7 p.m.
