WAHIAWA
Kamehameha Highway lanes closing this week

Multiple lanes of Kamehameha Highway in both directions will be closed between the H-2 Freeway Wahiawa off-ramp (Exit 8) and Karsten Thot Bridge from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. tomorrow through Friday.

The closures will allow the state Department of Transportation to resurface the pavement.

During construction hours, the Wahiawa off-ramp will remain open.

To avoid the construction area, North Shore-bound motorists originating from the Honolulu direction are advised to proceed to the end of H-2 Freeway and take Wilikina Drive to Kaukonahua Road (Waialua-bound) or to Kamananui Road and Kamehameha Highway (Hale'iwa-bound).

Honolulu-bound motorists originating from the North Shore are advised to take Kamehameha Highway south to Kamananui Road, make a left turn on Wilikina Drive, and proceed to the H-2 Freeway in the southbound direction.

Special-duty police will be directing traffic at key intersections through Wahiawa, and multiple detours will be in effect.

Motorists are advised to use caution while driving through the work areas and to allow for extra travel time. Roadwork is weather-permitting.
