Kaaawa meeting set on stream restoration project

Advertiser Staff

A two-hour public informational meeting on the Makaua Stream restoration and debris removal project will be held Oct. 29 at the Ka'a'awa Elementary School cafeteria.

Makaua Stream was one of the streams in Windward O'ahu heavily damaged by the March 2006 storm. The meeting at 51-296 Kamehameha Hwy. starts at 6:30 p.m.

State Department of Land and Natural Resources officials and the low-bid contractor will be available to discuss the construction schedule and answer questions. Federal funds will finance 75 percent of the construction cost with the state funding the remaining 25 percent.

Construction is scheduled to begin next month.
