Maui main break affecting service, traffic in Paia

Advertiser Staff

A six-inch water main break at the intersection of Hana Highway and Baldwin Avenue on Maui today affected water service to residents and businesses in Paia, Kuau and Skill Village.

The main break was reported at 4:02 p.m.

The Kahului-bound lane of Hana Highway was closed and police are using the Hana-bound lane to direct traffic in both directions.

Jacky Takakura, the Department of Water's administrative officer, said water service could be restored by 9 p.m.

Due to the water main break residents and businesses in Paia will experience low water pressure or no water until the break is repaired, Takakura said.
