Man, 27, wanted for attempted murder of police officer

Advertiser Staff

A Honolulu police officer was injured last night near Ala Moana Center after being struck several times by a vehicle driven by a forgery suspect attempting to flee.

The officer was treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released.

Police are seeking to arrest a 27-year-old man, who fled on foot, for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and second-degree forgery.

The incident was reported at 7:21 p.m.

The officer was sent to a Kahakai Drive location to investigate a forgery in progress. A witness pointed out the suspect to the officer but as the officer approached, the man attempted to drive off and struck the officer several times. The suspect abandoned the vehicle and ran off.
