KANE'OHE
State hospital will get more security upgrades

Gov. Linda Lingle has released an additional $457,000 for security improvements at Hawai'i State Hospital in Kane'ohe.

The money will be used for new fencing with access gates, to install a surveillance camera system, new monitors for the security office and related electrical upgrades.

The total project cost is estimated at $5.1 million. Lingle previously released $4.7 million for design and construction.

Construction is scheduled to begin next month and be completed in May 2009.
